You Can Never Have Enough Light In Your Home.

Hey Happy Back to school for all of the Moms and Dads out there!  My littlest Guy who turns 5 tomorrow is starting Kindergarten this year and I am so excited for the great year I know he will have.  Are there any others out there who have little ones starting Kindergarten like me?

As I’m sitting writing this post, the light  is shinning through my office window and what a difference that makes.  One of the clients that I have been working with since the spring lives in a North/South facing townhouse.  They have a stunning location that sits on a green space, so it’s quiet, as well they have covered decks on both sides to sit under rain or shine.  With a covered deck also comes a lot of shade as well as not as not enough  light as they would like to live in.

One of the first things that I recommended, that it was essential that more light was present in their home.  As of a few weeks ago the electrician installed at least 8-10 pot lights.  This was a must have for this type of space!  I knew it would happen, but I tell you the look on their faces when I walked into their space for the first time after the lighting went in.  They could not believe the change that it made through out their whole main space.  Their faces were even lit up!

If you are dealing with a dark space in your own home, never be afraid of light!   It is a must have to have all types of lighting at hand, pot lights,  floor lighting, or table lighting and some sort of pendant lighting or Chandelier. The combination of all of them, is what gives a room an over all even look.

There will also be mini pendants hung over the new bar that is being created, as well as a new Drum shade over their dining room table.  I can’t wait for it to be all revealed for them!

Any thoughts on lighting that you want to share?

Take it easy…

Jodi

I totally agree!! Most times you would rather not install tons of artificial lighting but with a dark space, it would certainly be necessary. Oooooh lots of sparkle reflecting from the lights is the icing on the space. Great subject to bring up!!!

I love great lighting… and yet, in my home have hardly any of it! I have a wish list for the living room, master bedroom, and TV area, but bummer, I also have a budget I have to stick to. So in the mean time I have lighting that will do while I keep my eyes open for what’s on my wish list! Great post, Jodi… and hey, nice to see you back!

Same over here! Our little guy started kindergarten, and he loves it!! Yaya! And, we have a north/south home and the first thing we did was to install pots lights in the family room… I don’t know how the previous owners survived in this house without more light!!! Looking forward to seeing you at IDSwest! 🙂
