That’s a great Question. Isn’t it crazy that when you look around to see what each person does day in and day out. Some are doctors, some nurses, some Nanny’s, some waitresses, some work with steel in construction, and so forth…. you get my picture. What seems so simple to others, is so hard to understand for the next person.
I recently stared for what seemed like 10 minutes at a child care worker the other day. You know the type that drops off children, cares for these children all day, and then takes the children that she has had all day to school to pick up even more children for her to care for after school is done for the grade school kids. Wow!! Sounds tiring doesn’t it? It does to me.
What we see as so much work, she sees probably as a joy to do. She obviously loves children, and for her this job is no sweat. Physically and emotionally.
Helping people create that feeling in their home is my WHY? I love sitting down with people to hear their struggles with their space, but also their dreams… I think it is important to dream. With out goals and dreams then what are we? It’s like our life is frozen in time, afraid to move or even hiccup. I spent 4 years of my life in a really bad relationship and I tell you I lost who I was. I lost my “why?”.
Back to home design. Some of you may say… but it’s only paint, or it’s only a chair. I say no it’s not only paint and it’s not only a chair. The way a space comes together for me says a lot. Do I think we should base how we feel solely on what our home looks like? No, of course not. There’s a reason for the way I do things when it comes to design. I hope some of my words can show that.
The best example right now is the Masterbedroom makeover I did a few months back. The space before was cold, boring and uninteresting… Now it’s calm, bright, comfortable, uncluttered and both of us feel so relaxed when we are in this space. I love it. I love making my bed in the morning.
I am choosing to do what I love and do it well, or I might as well not do it at all then. Are you doing the same?
Everyone one of has been given big and great gifts for the good of others. Use them. A friend shared this amazing quote with me, please do enjoy it.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
