If you are looking for a way to add bang and glam to a room with out too much $$$ then consider adding wallpaper to your home. I know for most of us this seems like a daunting project and highly committal, but I assure you its not that much work and if years later you find yourself not digging the look then most wallpapers today just peel off with one hand.
There are some amazing wallpapers out there and many uses for this wonderful sticky paper. When you are working with a large wall to fill, it’s almost unnecessary to use a lot of art to cover the space. Take a look at this image. The red couch pops with color as a contrast to the blue busy wall paper. All it took was one picture above the sofa and the wall was finished.

This is an example of how to put wallpaper to good use. The cabinet just stands out so much with the use of different types of papers. I love it’s cheerfulness, and brightness.

This is definitely another good use for
wallpaper in a toned down manner. The wallpaper here gives this cabinet a definite focal point with out heaviness.
{Alkamie's blog} There are so many uses for wall paper, but bear in mind that you need to think carefully where you put it, and how much. Most rolls start at $40 and work on upwards. But in some ways one roll could be the ticket you need for behind your couch if you haven’t been able to decide what to “hang”. I know all about leaving a wall bare till I decide what is the perfect thing to put up. My son’s wall above his bed still remains an empty frame because I don’t know what I want there. Although, I was thrifting the other day… Yeah surprise, surprise… and I came across the most amazing looking print that is already framed for me. The price tag you ask? A whopping $6.99!! My son loves it, so I must get it up.
{the kids room decor} I love this world atlas wallpaper for a boy’s room. I have so many ideas of how I would put it all together. This is so masculine and so adventurous!! What little boy or girl for that matter wouldn’t want this on their walls?
{kitty as a picture} I’m not usually into this type of “theme” room, but I thought this wall paper was SO adorable and the little boy looks like he is having so much fun. Would I put in my home, probably not. I think it would date pretty fast, but the approach is too cute!
{room envy} Would you ever wallpaper your ceiling? I think I would in a special room. Then I think there is the tendency that you have to wallpaper every room ceiling in your home. I really believe that rooms should flow from room to room really well, with seamless lines. When one room is too dark, and then one room is too light and airy then I think the flow suddenly stops. But getting too far into that topic is for another day….
Lately when I look at walls with out wallpaper or paneling (especially my own walls) I feel that they are boring. I know this is not true because walls with the correct color choice is never boring, but it’s just a phase I am going through. Call me crazy, but I’m into mixing things up lots!
At any cost wallpaper is a great cost-effective way to create a dramatic wall, or room.
What do you think of wallpaper and how would you use it?
Having ripped off wallpaper from walls before, there is that aspect to think about as well. Can you live with style for a long time?
I really like the idea of the multiple wallpaper patterns behind the shelving units you’ve featured. Definitely a great idea.
I think if someone is apprehensive to commit to wallpapering a wall, that is a fun way to go. Also having seen ‘framed’ wallpaper before I really like that approach too! You can have multiple styles of wallpaper in frames on the same wall and make it work!
Thanks for all the insightful comments! Most of today’s wallpapers remove quite easily with a few tricks. I’m hoping I will like this pattern for awhile. The feel of the paper I chose I know I can live with for awhile. The bathroom was soooo boring before and now it is full of life! It really needed it!
Framing wallpaper is a great way to add some pattern without the commitment!
Great to hear from you!
