Happy Monday! Last week was a challenging week. Between having the flu of some sort and other projects I admit the flu wore me down. A good friend emailed me to say ” Jodi, I can’t understand the first sentence in your post!” Oh, she was so right. I found out that writing a post and having a really bad flu is not a good use of my time.
This week I am going to go try to work on our main floor powder room amongst other things that I may get my self into trouble with. Oh I know it will happen….
So I basically I have the makings of a great new space in place, so I will have to see how it goes. Once again I am working on a budget, so that’s always a lovely challenge. Sometimes I think of how great it would be to go into any tile shop or accessories shop and pick whatever I want. Then there are times where that isn’t very satisfying to me at all. It’s not always rewarding to pull out the M/C and get what I want in an instant! It is so much more satisfying when we can say that we did the work ourselves and we did it the best we could with the materials that we had and could afford. I really believe that a great room starts with deciding on what you need the space to give you first and then all the other elements will fall into place. Even on a budget. Great and expensive items without doubt won’t always necessarily look good, It’s how to put them together that counts! I guess that’s my motto.
This is what we need to do. ( “We ” meaning Mr. Holmsey will be helping!)
1.Remove the cabinet that is currently taking up 1/3 of our bathroom that basically has nothing in it. Which makes the most sense of all. I store some towels, and the plunger. I think I can deal with not having the storage in this bathroom.
2. Remove the sink as well as add the pedestal sink we found on Craigslist for $40 dollars. Steal of a deal! I’m So happy.
3. Add some drama/color to the walls. I chose a wall paper and it is already on the walls. I decided that it was time for some pretty in this house. Well more pretty… and the Mr. is totally okay with it. I love him…
4. Remove the existing tiles that are presently on the floor at the moment. That should be fun as always. Right?
So here is some of the frame-work of our new powder room. Some of the colors are off, but you can get the idea.

Oh my, this looks like fun. It reminds me of our renovation adventures in one of our other homes. My husband did such a great job in the powder room! I miss that home…

It’s only fun the first 5 hours and the last 20 minutes, right?

Funny and true!
Well, I did the easy part (painting). My husband did the wainscotting, plumbing and tiling, BUT I did clean up after him. That part wasn’t fun…
