Happy Tuesday to you all. A Few weeks I finished off our master bed room as part of my “last 20%” . I’m so glad it is done and we love the feeling that redesigning it has provided.
Now the next project is working on our main floor powder room. It’s been a month since I started it, but with design projects for others on the go, mine have taken a back seat for now. Totally fine with me. That’s why I have started this journey, to not only help my self, but to help others create the space that they have envisioned.
This the before state of my bathroom in all it’s naturalness. It’s a small space, but with that in mind I have some ideas to lighten it up and add some life.
Years ago, we framed out the large mirror on the wall. This made a huge difference on the depth and brightness that came from this one little change. This is on my list to stay! Plus it was a lot of work to get that frame into the space to begin with.
We have always wanted to install a pedestal sink in exchange for this monster of a cabinet that the builders installed. What were they thinking? Is just me, or do any of you also think that door cabinets are useless compared to drawer cabinets?
I’m scratching the idea of the cabinet and we will install a new pedestal sink. So today I found one that is practically new off of Craigslist. The deal included the taps as well in the style I can dig for awhile. So a practically new pedestal and taps for $40.00. Now that’s a deal. Thanks to the gentleman that sold it to me!
So this is the rough plan when it’s all said and done.
- Install new tiles on the floor. These are the same hideous ones that used to be on our fireplace. You can see the paint job I did on them here.
- rip out the old counter, sink and taps.
- I’ve already painted and added some pretty wall paper.
- Add some bling, and other accessories.
All in all add some glam, vintage feel, and basically add some life to this clean and very usable space.
Sounds easy doesn’t? It’s all easy, it just takes some time.
While, it will still be weeks before it will finished, I know when it is I will be very glad. I strongly cannot stand unfinished projects. Why bother starting them in the first place Jodi! I was just talking to myself wasn’t I?
Do you have any crazy experiences with powder rooms?
