When we first moved into our home almost 9 years ago our Masterbed Room was one of the first rooms we tackled. Sadly Most couples or even Single folks neglect to put this room as a priority when it comes to the design of their home.
The common things that I hear are… “Well no one sees it except us?” Or ” It’s really not inportant to me.” While all these things are true I am here to challenge and encouage you to view your bed room as a haven and place of rest.
Master Bedrooms were on my brain last week as a gal in my Design class needed some direction and ideas to freshen up her and husbands space. The biggest thing that I can say to someone just about to go into the design process with a designer or on their own is to make a really good list of the things that you need and what you love.
1. What colours make you happy?
2. How do you use this space? Is it for reading, lounging, or converstion? Or all three? This has everything to do with Intentionality of living. When your space is designed with intentionality in mind the space really works better.
3. What are the main larger pieces that you need in your space, and are they scale to the space given?
4. What type of interesting details can I bring into the space through use of differnt textiles, use of pattern, and lighting.
Take the before picture of our master bedroom for example.
While this room is clean, and calm there is no life, or passion to it. What does it take to pull of a great room and what holds you back? Is it money, time, or lack of direction? I encouage you to put this forgotten room to the top of your list for you as a individul or you as a couple if you are married. You would be amazed how great design can change you life and more!
Do yourself a favour and love your room.
Bye for now.

Absolutely!
I think people get bogged down thinking it all has to be done at once, instead of working toward the vision.
Great post 🙂

We’ve been in our house for 2 weeks and I am making all the bedrooms a priority this time. In the past we had master bedrooms that didn’t get completed until it was time to sell so this time it’s gonna be first. I’m almost finished the master and love that I made it a priority.
