Simple Christmas decor. That’s my motto for this year. Well… That’s what I’m trying to do. Every year, I tell my self that I’m going to keep things simple. It’s so hard. I love designing and decorating so much that it’s difficult to stay on course with my pre-Christmas ideas of simplicity. Despite all the wonderful ideas I could have done for this year, I think I managed to control myself.
I started out with the adventure in making my first DIY Ornament wreath. This was an interesting project, but well worth the effort.
My DIY Painted Containers with the snow dusted twigs totally finished off my mantel to give it the modern/country look I was going for. A little bit glamorous as well.
Ahhh… and all the amazing ornaments I was able to find along my travels this summer. You never know what you will find when you venture out into some thrift stores.
This is the wreath that I found at the thriftstore. I think at one point this looked good in someone’s home. It’s just not going to in mine!!! There was even dust on it….
I removed all the fake grapes and flowers. I added some of my own twigs from my back yard and gave it a spray of Kilz spray primer.
I added some white berries, some real pine cones, and ornaments that I had kicking around the house.
I think it turned out pretty good considering what I had to use. I may change it up next year with a whole new look.
Ahh… and there’s my DIY fireplace. That just made my holiday season to never have to look at those ugly tiles ever again. Another low-budget Reno….
My daughter naturally follows my lead when it comes to decorating, and needed some glam in her room as well. These cute ornaments were perfect for her pink ballerina room. It was her idea to line them up. I’m so proud of her.
The pink stars are simply adorable as well….
No door would be complete without a Simple fresh greenery wreath.
I’m itching to do more but I’m sticking to my goal to keep things under control for this year. I’m liking the “uncluttered feeling” I have in my home this year. That’s all for now, I’m working on a few bigger projects that I’ll show you in a few days.
See you then.
