This is my last review of the week for President’s Choice Products. I hope you found some of my words helpful for this busy time when you need a quick, but a product that’s quality.
I came across this PC Gingerbread cookie mix the same night that I purchased the shortbread mix. Remember the night I was so tired I couldn’t even remember my own name? I worked as bakery Manager decades ago, (well that may be exaggerating) so it’s not usually even an option for me to go pre-made. For this year I made the decision to do no baking. Except for baking cookies with my kids.
I mixed up the contents in the pouch with the butter and the correct amount of water. It mixed up very well and it smelled divine. I could have nibbled on it right then and there. The box never mentioned anything about chilling the dough before you roll it out so I would highly suggest this. The colder the dough is, the better your shapes will cut out. Thus, making the job easier for you! Isn’t that what it’s all about?
The kids did their very best to wait patiently till the cookies were cool enough to decorate. They had so much fun slathering the cookies with icing, and decorating them with sprinkles and chocolate chips. Don’t they look interesting? They were very proud of their work.
It’s so much fun making icing from pure sugar (I’m feeling sick already), mixing up colors with dyes that stay on my hands for 2 days, cleaning gobs of icing off my floor, and dealing with the kids an hour later when the sugar hits them. Sounds fun doesn’t it? I can’t be the only Mom or Dad out there that thinks this is craziness? Of course, I have a blast seeing their faces light up when they see the coloured icing. But why on earth do we put up with this chaos? Probably because We love our kids. It’s just that simple.
I have to say that this product was very good all in all. I give it a 8/10. The taste was excellent, very moist, and had a wonderful ginger flavor. I was hoping that they would bake-off like the picture on the box. May be it was just me?
Whether you do make your gingerbread from scratch this year or use PC Gingerbread mix like I did. Have a blast doing it and don’t worry about the mess. Have fun Baking….
