Our good friend Carly owner of Kitchening with carly booked Darryl to take some food shots for her kitchen walls. I posted back a few months ago about the food shots that Darryl did for our kitchen and she was drooling over them. Not entirely sure why as most of the shots are of veggies and fruit and by no means lemon cake. Remember this shot? Yum.
Don’t get me wrong, I am crazy about fresh ingredients, and whole foods other wise I wouldn’t have had Darryl shoot some of the shots that he did for our kitchen. I’m all about fresh in the home. No fake anything as far as I am concerned… But if you like the fake stuff, then by all means go for it. It’s just not for me. I am still referring to food and decor here you know…. I posted some of the food shots we did for our kitchen here. Check them out. Here are some of the highlights of the post images.
Nothing like whole foods on table is what I say most of the time. Except for Tuesday night we had chocolate banana cake for dinner. I know, I know that sounds ridiculous! But it was yum. I was the best MOM in town.
Carly came over and spent most of the afternoon working with Darryl and I. Her desire is to take better photos for her own blog and business. So far if you check out her site it looks like she has been a great student. Way to go Carly!! Here are some quick shots I took as the afternoon rolled on. We kept it casual and not too complicated. I’ll post some of the shots she picked at a later date. It was a good day despite all the rain we got outside.
Carly wanted the fresh ingredients to be photographed on a raw surface so we used these old wood planks.
Carly got to see first hand how long a photography session really takes, and I think she was able to take home some great tips for her own shots at home for her blog. I’ll show you the edited shots when they are all set to go!
Have a wonderful weekend. I think we are about to get some sunshine!!!

That was FUN!!! It was also intense, but I’m sure more so for Darryl. I don’t know how he does the one eye open/ one eye squint for so long! When I use my SLR for more than 5 minutes I’m getting a headache!
I loved this collaboration time. Getting geeky over food and photography is a great way to spend a Thursday. Thanks Darryl and Jodi for hosting and expertise!
