One of the most important posts that I have meant to write is todays post Part 1. So listen up! Soon I am about to share an earth shattering, ground breaking, and wonderful product that I have used this past winter. Well.. are you ready?
Well here it goes. This past winter as a part of my new kitchen redesign, one of the really important elements in pulling my kitchen together really well is that my kitchen cabinets needed to be painted. If you have been to my house before then you would know that my cabinets were already white! How could this be, and why would you want to paint them?
When we purchased our stock cabinets almost 3 years ago, we purchased white but that kind of white (that most cost-effective cabinets) come in is more of a white cabinet with a cheaper/blue undertone.
Cheap + Blue undertone = Not what I’m after for this space!
So after days of pondering a bit.. I realized that to pull this space together really well these are some things that needed to be considered.
1. I believe in one thing when it comes to design in my home or your home. When I do something, it needs to be bang on, the best it can be within my budget or yours!
2. Make it right. This is very important space for my family. To unify this space and all the colors present, even the “Whites” in this space needed to be pulled together in the right way! This means that all the undertones needed to work together in the best way possible, but still work around the fact that this reno has been done in stages. Floors installed one year, cabinets and counters the next and so forth…
3. Even though I didn’t want to pull my cabinet doors off and paint them, I knew I had to. Enough said.
So what did I end up doing and what product did I use? Come back tomorrow to find out!

Ahhh yes, whites are always tricky and can look so wrong especially when with other whites! I’m sure it’s painful to be painting an already white door white but well worth it in the end. Can’t wait to see it!

You are so right, but what I admire is your fearless embracing of this reality. The details matter!
