With New Years and Christmas behind us there is no doubt a lot of extra wine bottles, pop cans, used wrapping paper lying around your house. If left to themselves, these paper and glass products won’t sort themselves and walk themselves out to the curb. After cleaning up the used wrapping paper and glass products from Christmas I was reminded of how important an organized recycling system is much-needed in the home. Could mine be better, yes of course. All in good time though….
I would love to have a complete system under my kitchen sink, but there is just not the space. You know the bins where there are Four slots with a space for every type of recycling product? For most of us we don’t have the room to accommodate deluxe systems, but if you do, however, I came across these recycling systems on a great blog site called Blisstree to get my fellow organizers drooling… The post title states: “Best Home Recycling Bins-Recycling Bins To drool Over”. Check it out!
These are just a few I dream of… hey, don’t judge me.
and this one…
Now I’m not assuming that all of you have the space for this type under your sink, but these types would work great in a garage , back entrance, or laundry room depending on how your home is layed out.
If price is an issue, (and it almost always is with us) then I like these Ikea sorting bins to do the trick. These could be stacked and labeled with the various types of bottle and paper products that you recycle in your home.
We have this bin from Ikea and have throughly enjoyed it.
When shopping at Ikea everyone knows that you must check out the “As Is” section before paying.
We struck gold to find this one with one little dent on the side. SOLD! We keep it on our front porch outside so our kids can put recycling in themselves to help out around the house. Might as well start them young!
Recycling doesn’t have to be daunting, nor should it prevent you from having an organized system that looks clean and tailored to your home. For whatever reasons, make sure it works for your home and this is an important step for me to organized in the New Year.
Starting next week I will be exploring other ways to get “Order in the House: Organizing your way into the New Year!” Hope you will join me as I share ways that I have found useful for my own home and inspiration from others as well.
Have a great and safe New Years! See you in 2011.

I like to keep the recycling at bay as well. I just use the Township bins on a shelf in the garage but a sleek system would be nice!

Yes, that would be great. I keep things organized, but we want to rip down our garage walls to put more insullation in the walls so we are waiting to to the FULL reno of the space. It’s only a dream right now.
