What a wonderful Mother’s Day I had!! My day started at 6 a.m. when I decided that I would like to get my Bikram Yoga class done and out-of-the-way before we were off to church. I know myself, and my lazy Sunday self would tell me that’s it’s not a good idea to go later, so the early class was the best option this morning.
If I could give all of you new Mom’s and Mom’s to be ONE small bit of advice or so I will call it? Even though we start the day as Mom’s, that doesn’t mean that our kids need us constantly, nor do our husbands. Give yourself that moment 3-4 times a week to give back to yourself when it comes to being healthy and it will pay you back double. Not only will you feel and look better, but you will a patient Mom and a more loving Mom. Isn’t that good for the whole family? I think I found this to be the most effective the earlier I started with my babies. After my first daughter, and when I got the green light at 6 weeks to start working out again I had a VERY supportive Husband who was there to feed our daughter while I was out for an hour. That’s all it took. ONE hour. Not only did this give by husband a chance to bond with our daughter, but it gave me that time away.
Again when my son was 10 weeks old I started training for my first Marathon with basically a new-born. Trust me, it can be done it just takes some hard work, organization, and support from your man. Speak up wives, if your hubby doesn’t know you need it, then he can’t really can’t help you. Or maybe you can’t afford a gym membership? There are so many ways to move when our little babies are so young. The earlier they see you practice healthy living, the better chances that they will follow in these wise steps. I’m not telling you these stories to say ” LOOK at Me!!”. I’m telling you this because these are examples of a busy life. Take your life for what it is and stop looking at what you can’t do, and go for what you want can do.
That’s enough of that talk for now. I hope I have encouraged you today? A little? Let me know your thoughts on this. What are you doing that works for your family?
So the rest of my day looked like this…. After getting back from Bikram I was surprised by lots of drawings, notes, and lovely gifts from my daughter. Flowers and all. We made it to church on time, and after church we went to a great little decor shop that I have had my eye on for a while. The day was so wonderful. I even was able to source out some art work for my nieces new room. I hope to finish it quite soon. We have been looking for art work that would suit the room perfectly, and I think I may have found it today along with some amazing other finds to go along with it. Ahhh… I love it when a plan comes together. Especially when it comes to design. Sometimes these things can’t be rushed. I believe in finding each detail that works well with each other detail. Rushing design, just means that I haven’t cared enough about the final look to call it design. When you work with me, I care about each little detail, each corner, and every nook. I am creating a feeling first, not just an after all look.
So back to my lovely Mother’s Day…
This is what my daughter had to say about me in some activities they did in school. Remember she is in grade one.
My Mother’s Age: 42( although, some days I feel it.)
My Mother likes: Cooking (True, most days.)
My Mothers favorite food: Oranges. ( Not sure why she said that?)
My Mother’s favorite sport: Ice skating ( I haven’t put on skates in 13 years?)
I love it when my Mother: Smiles… ( I love this too.)
My mother is good at: LOVE ( Thank goodness she said this right?)
My Mom likes it when: The home is clean ( OH, she hit the money on this one!)
So cute right? Oh the time goes by so fast. Before you know it, I’ll be looking back on these days and wished there was more time with them as they are little. I love being a mother.
Anyways, I hope if you are a mother you had a fabulous Mother’s Day, I know I had a full day, but a goodie.
How was yours? What did you get up to?
