Marvelous Macaroons! Made By Kitchening with Carly…

You are here: Home / Featured / Marvelous Macaroons! Made By Kitchening with Carly…

February 14, 2011 By Jodi

I have to say I have never in my life eaten a French macaroon.  Have you? Well if you haven’t, then this is what they look like. All day while Darryl was shooting photos of them, our little guy asked at least 10 times when he got to eat the little burgers. I guess they do look like little burgers. I think he’s right!

I also had the  privilege of getting my second flu bug this past week, so my taste buds could not really taste these beautiful creations. I still have some in my freezer, so  when I can “taste” again I am launching my big teeth into one. I passed my cold onto Darryl as well, so he has lost his “taste” too!  Can you imagine Food without Taste all the time?  That would be a terrible world for me.

Last Friday Darryl and I took the day to style and photograph these french macaroons that my good friend Carly at  Kitchening with Carly baked up  in her kitchen. When she mentioned that she was baking them I had to ask her for some so that  Darryl and I  could photograph them. Just  note: There were no macaroons hurt in our mouths while photographing these “to die for” beauties.

We found this iron tray strolling the isles at a thrift store. I think it’s a chocolate or little cake mold. There is a 2 on the side of it. Does anyone know exactly what it is? I would love to know.  I  thought the little macaroons would look great perched on top of it. Not to mention the contrast  of bright icing and dull color of the tray makes this photo really interesting.

Doesn’t this macaroon look light, flaky and ready to eat?  It sits nicely on top of a dollop of butter cream,  we added one single almond on top, and dusted it with icing sugar.

Wow! I feel sugared up looking at these photos!

Be sure to check out Carly’s new site if you get a chance!  You will soon see how passionate she about  food and talking about food with like-minded people!

Have you ever had a French Macaroon?  Well what are you waiting for?
