Lighting and Paint Working Together.

When I started out several months to finally breath new life into our kitchen space, I knew that I wanted the space to be as white as possible, but not sterile or cold.  This can be quite the juggling act when it comes to a white kitchen because the undertones and overall finishes are so important.  They go together just like Bacon and Eggs.

Our kitchen is fairly large ( under 300 squ. ft.). There are 2 main windows, and 2 small taller windows.  Our kitchen faces West, so the majority of the natural light doesn’t come till the afternoon. While our kitchen is quite bright (for the West Coast), it still can always be improved when it comes to lighting.

Presently we have a fantastic old school-house style pendant hanging over our table. While I love its shape, and over all look, I will be replacing it with a pendant that will transfer light better through it and from underneath. This will drastically give the white walls the brightness that it deserves.

I haven’t yet to order the pendant though the supplier that I am working with, but it’s exciting to see what good light will do for this bright space and make it even brighter.  Let there be light!

There’s one other element that I will addressing when it comes to the White that I’ve chosen for this kitchen, but you’ll have to wait to hear about that one, so come back and I’ll share that too!

Jodi

Lighting is a lot like icing on the cake and it brings out the personality of the space…. oh and I guess it’s a practical thing too.

I love where you’re going with your kitchen, Jodi! And am looking forward to the final reveal….
So, what will you be doing with your current pendant? I love that too!!! 😉

Thanks Sheila! The reveal won’t be for quite sometime sad to say. I will be using the pendant in our library side of our living room. That room has more of a industrial glamorous feeling and I think it will go really nice once its hung.

UHM! I’ll take that pendant off your hands if you don’t want it! LOVE your kitchen so much already, can’t wait to see it when you are done!

I love your boldness Barb. I do have a home for it, but you are very brave to ask!
