Healing My Back Through Bikram Yoga: An Update.

Last week I shared how I made the decision to heal my back and overall health with the use of going to a Bikram studio. Two good things have happened since then that I am excited to share.

1.   I have to say that with in a week my back it soooo…. much better and I will continue to go as much as my schedule allows. I didn’t actually think that I would feel this good so soon, but I am very happy I decided to go this route.

2.  Darryl has been to a few classes at the Bikram Studio in our area and he has loved it! He attended a free class on Father’s day and last Saturday we attended the Studio’s 4th anniversary Party.  There was lots of great Yogi’s there, great healthy food ( YUM!), and lots of prizes.  Darryl and I went home with 3 prizes.  Yes, you heard me right.  3!  From a couple who really never wins anything, we were stoked!  We won a Starbucks gift package, a massage for myself  and two friends, and a new Yoga mat!  I was thrilled to say the least.  Darryl has since decided to join and he is loving the classes.  I’m proud of you Darryl.

I can’t say how much this journey of doing Yoga has changed my energy, overall strength, and loosened all the tightness in my 34 year (injured and inflamed) old body. Can I invite you along?  If you live in my area and you would like to check out a class, please contact me and I would love to have you there with me!

Here’s some more tidbits about this fantastic way to move your change your body.

Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class is a twenty-six asana series designed to scientifically warm and stretch muscles, ligaments and tendons, in the order in which they should be stretched.Bikram Yoga’s twenty-six posture exercises systematically move fresh, oxygenated blood to one hundred percent of your body, to each organ and fiber, restoring all systems to healthy working order, just as Nature intended. Proper weight, muscle tone, vibrant good health, and a sense of well-being will automatically follow.How quickly you progress will depend entirely on you — upon your natural ability to a small extent, but mostly upon the time and effort you give to Yoga. It will have little to do with how “perfectly” you can do the poses.{info courtesy of Bikram Langley’s Website.}

Here’s to good health and a healthy back!

    I love Bikram too.  I’ve been going for 31/2 years and love it although with summer my routine is all thrown off.  I’m so glad you are seeing results and your back feels much better!  I’ve had that experience too.  See you Saturday!

    I would love to join you but I might turn into a blubbering mess. I can’t stand 40 C. Is it humid too? Glad to hear it is working for you. My, hem, 40 yr old body needs to jolt!

    I’m with Barb…can’t stand the heat.  Glad it’s working for you though!

    Let me first say that I DO NOT like the heat, normally. While I have only gone a few times so far, I am planning to make it part of my regular schedule. It only took a few sessions to be hooked. I am just amazed at home much flexibility I am gaining, and I feel great. More energy than I have felt in a long time.
    I find the mental challenge of dealing with (trying to survive) the heat to be the most challenging and most rewarding. The last class I was in I hardly noticed it at all. That level of focus and determination builds character, or at least that is what I am choosing to believe right now.

    I too am hooked. As a busy shift-working mother of 3, I am not able to go as much as I would like, but I have seen such a change in myself. I am able to do my job (a stressful one!!) with more determination and a even head- and I can help my patients do the same. I have noticed that the levels of scar tissue in my back from a car accident years ago is FINALLY releasing. I enjoy the heat, but more than that, I think I enjoy the challenge of trying not to fall over when in such precarious positions!!!
    All I have to say is JUST TRY IT!!- You will not regret it.

    I’m so proud of you for going Dawn. It’s like everything else, you ever know what can happen until you just TRY.  I can’t even believe some of the results that I have gotten for my back, and I hope yours continues to heal. I really think it will.
