Adding lighting to your home in my opinion does not need to be expensive, nor needs to come with a heavy price tag. What makes a truly great light fixture in your home? The money you spent on it, or how special and unique it makes your space feel?
Some of the most amazing light fixtures I have used in my home or found are from thrift stores. Full of Character, and beauty. What more could a girl like me want?
Take this picture of our table makeover I showed you back in December. The light hanging above our table goes fabulous in our kitchen, and I mean fabulous!
It took both us (my husband and I) to take one look at it and we knew instantly its potential. Too bad I don’t have a before to show you. This fixture used to be gold with that wonderful 80’s look to it. It wasn’t so wonderful. It completely works in our space, and along the way you too can find something that works for you as well.
Kimba at A Soft Place to Land shared this photo of a milk jar chandelier that she too just had to bring home. Once again a great example of all it takes is to open your eyes differently and challenge the way you think towards the things in your home. I believe she had plans to keep the milk jars white and the rest of it black! That will be absolutely stunning!
The very same goes for this type of lamp. I have been seeing this type every time I step into thrift stores lately. This one is Barbara’s at Hodge:Podge.
She took it home and gave it an updated and much more glamorous look. It probably took all of one hour to do. The after picture speaks for it self. Simple, stunning and I love the lines of this lamp.
The most recent lamp I found was this chandelier that I put in our bedroom for our simple Master bedroom makeover. It hangs beautifully over our bed and ties everything together.
So there you go, FOUR great lamps that all came from a thrift store and they look absolutely wonderful if I may say so my self. I say to myself, “Self? Aren’t you glad you didn’t pay $100 or more dollars for them?”. “Yes, I am!!”. I know the women featured here today would say the same thing.
Needing to find something for a future client or just a friend in need of a great chandelier for her home office, confirms my decision to carry my camera with me more often. I never know what I may come across. An encouraging note for you today: The look you want to create in your home doesn’t always have to come with the price tag too!
Have you gone thrifting looking for lamps lately? You know I have….
Happy thrifting….
