Finding Contentment In All Different Ways.

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a

result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of

recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”

-Frederick Keonig

This week I wrote a post about my style changing in my home. With the design world all around me, it’s difficult to not be captured with the incredible sense to feel like I need to have all these changes NOW. I believe that my home reflects who I am in a big way. What you see is what you get.

It’s hard when I know so badly what my home needs, yet does it really?  We all know the answer is no, but still I believe in surrounding my self with beautiful things and the things I love in our home. Nothing more, and nothing less. Waiting for the Best.

Today, I am appreciating all the things I love about our home instead of all the things I need to change. Here is my big list and reminder to hold myself accountable.

  • We have a very spacious home and space will never be an issue for us. We are choosing to  live with less. Just because we have all the closets  in the world, doesn’t mean we have to fill them up with “things”.

  • We have amazing light that streams into our home each day.  Our living room faces east, so there is always lots of light in the morning and in the evening. The kitchen faces West, so there is a tremendous amount of light in this space too!

  • We have a huge yard for our kids to play in and for us to gather with Friends and family. When spring rolls around each year, we feel so blessed for the yard we have to play in. Pretty soon it will be BBQ season. Wanna come over?

  • Where we live, we are blessed to be able to walk just about anywhere.  The other day, the kids and I walked home from the market after school and the sun was shinning.  I just soaked that in. What a convenience.

  • That same day  I made the kids an ice cream cone while we sat on the balcony just off our kitchen. As the kids ferociously licked their ice cream cones, we soaked up the sun and listened to the birds singing. This was good day for them and that made me happy.

  • After owning for almost 8 years now, we have a very low mortgage.  Now that’s a blessing… Life is not about owing,  but living… and giving.

This is just a very short list of all the things that  I truly love about our home.  If I feel anxious about all the “TO DO” things that I want to do in my home, I will get out this list and TRY to be Content.

How about you?  Do you find this a struggle?

That’s it…Im moving in! Sounds lovely. I love natural light and I love, love, love y’alls office. It is the inspiration for ours.

Thank you for this post. I am often guilty of “wantitis”. SO many things I want that I think will make our home perfect, when in actuality as long as there is love, family and peace it is already perfect.

It really is all about appreciating the little things. That’s what makes our life full

What a great reminder. I think I’m going to make myself one of those lists to look to when I get frustrated with the projects I have left to do.
