So Saturday I showed you just a few pictures that Darryl took of my Niece’s room. I am very happy with how it turned out with the budget we had. There are so many great details that were found for this room that I thought that I would take you through a few.
1. The starting point of the room really was the pillows. Aren’t they amazing? So bright, tailored, eclectic, fun and girly all in one package.
2. My sister-in-law really wanted a different looking antique lamp. She searched place after place and when she was about to give up and buy a new I happen to see this milk glass lantern lamp. It was in perfect condition and my brother painted the brass part of it light powder pink.
3. This dresser was such a find, and I was thrilled to work on for my Niece for her Birthday present. It wasn’t always this beautiful. Check out this post for what it used to look like.
4. What brought this room from boring to “Hello Beautiful”!! is definitely the wall panelling that I had my handy-dandy brother install. If you are actually in the space you can feel the value and the quality that it has added to their home. They love it so much that they plan on installing it in all of the upstairs bedrooms. I am a big fan of built-ins and custom work, so I always try to build that into any room that I design. There are exceptions, but it really leaves the room with an over all clean and tailored feeling that I am sooo… fond of.
5. We have been on the search for a piece of art work for quite some time for this little girl’s room. The art work had to have flowers, had to be fairly cheap, and really had to reflect the room as far as all the colors go. My sister in law is an artist and painter and we really wanted to custom and mat/ frame some of the work she did a few years back, but in the end it would have just cost too much to find frames and mats to go with her art. I found this piece of art work and we decided that it was perfect for now, and the plan hopefully is that my sister in law’s sister (confusing huh?) will paint my Niece some art work one day when she finds some time. That way the dresser is from me and the art work will be from her other Aunt.
So that’s most of the details in a nut shell. I really wanted to design a space that would grow with my niece and not be too babyish. The Baby stage is sooo short so I really believe now in spending your decor dollars wisely. The children’s stage (age 1-10) is really a lot longer so it really make sense to put your “design money ” into this time for your childs room.
What are you thoughts on this idea? Do agree or disagree? Love to hear what you have to say.

I would love to know the brand of paint and color you used for the dresser. Very cute!
