I’ve shared a few photos awhile back about the Built-ins that I designed and Darryl built before Christmas. They have been excepted greatly by our children and my daughter ” the New librarian” for the kids section of the library, PLUS she keeps tabs on how organized and neat the books are kept. Oh goodness…. what have I created!
This is her with her 3D glasses {From a trip to see the New Beauty and the Beast 3D version with her cousins} and of course with the lenses popped out. She wears them every waking hour except for when she’s in school. Very chic! I offered to spray paint them purple, but she declined my offer. I love her silent confidence, and how she doesn’t need the attention of the whole world for her to know that she is FAB!
When I was deciding what type of look that I wanted for the built-ins, the word “Classic” really stuck with me. While I could have gone and created a wow look and played with the over all finishes, colour, materials, I still wanted to keep the piece that sits in my living room today to be classic for years. The bottom section is now enclosed with sturdy, solid doors that Darryl so happily installed for me a few weekends ago.
This is one other design that did draw my eye. The look for this cabinet is accomplished through covering the doors with a decorative panelling such as Radiator material. While I really liked this idea, I didn’t know how much I would like it long-term so it wasn’t an area that I was willing to take chances when it came to the design. Isn’t the yellow on the walls awesome too?
While I was tempted to go a bit more extreme in the pattern that I chose, I really wanted to remain true to my own personal design style.
Simply Sophistication.
Classic styles never tire with me when it comes to the main pieces of my home. Practical and Intentional Design is the uttermost importance for me when it comes to pulling a space together. It’s with the styling, accessories, and the unique items that my family has that take a beautiful space work, and turn out to be the best space for our family.
Oh, and By the way, I will get around to showing you the doors now that they’re installed! So glad that little detail is done.

Jodi, your home is really shaping up to be chic, timeless, and spectacular! I think that’s because you do embrace classic. It’s your finesse of classic that sets your home apart! And isn’t it great to check those little details off the list? Have a great day!
Oh, BTW – I got an email from you but the text was missing… did it have to do with your kitchen pendant, maybe? If not, no worries, but I didn’t want you to think I was ignoring it!
