Around our home things have been slowly happening design wise. I made some small changes to our kitchen to accomodate the Island that we want to build eventually. I moved our Antique Hutch out to make way for our table to turn the other direction. Remember this picture? I love all the extra space we have recieved from this change, and now it’s really clear that we most certainly have room for an kitchen Island that we will eventually build.
Obviously this was from Christmas last year. I have since moved the black Hutch out of our kitchen and it is sitting in our garage. Arghhh.. I have hopes of selling it, if I can find a buyer? Any takers? I’ll give you a good deal.
Since then I have had my daughter who is an aspiring artist draw up some fresh food images and I have framed them and did up a large wall gallery in place of the hutch. I’ve also added the food shots that Darryl did up from this post. I have since taken a photo of the new gallery to show you, but do you think I could find them? Every now and then Darryl takes my little G11 to organize/ save and clear off the memory stick. I really haven’t had the heart to bug him to find the photos. I promise to show you soon when I can find them. Promise!
On another note, some changes are happening in our living room. I realized that we really haven’t shown you our living room, except for our mantel that I painted last Christmas. Our living room is a nice size, but it is difficult to work around design wise because of the large windows (which I adore) and the size of our couch. The couch is a good size for the space, but it only really works on certain walls. We have plans of getting a new one some day, but I just need to hold out for a little while longer. I already know exactly what I want, I just need to wait for it.
This is sort of what I am looking for. The piece needs to be classic, timeless, and not too poofy.
or this one….
I have really wanted to make some changes for a long time now and finally the time is right. I have the vision and direction that I want to head in and I’m super excited to get this project going. I plan on taking my time with it (a bit) because after all it is summer and there is a lot going on around our parts these days. Let’s see how patient I will be with this project, and do you believe me that I will be patient? I’m guessing the latter.
When I get an idea in my head, there is no stopping me… especially when it comes to design.
Here is some tidbits of the direction I want to head in.
Dark, rich Greys and blacks with pops of creamy, buttery yellows and classic whites!
I can’t wait to get started!
Next week, I headed to the paint store and get this all going!
What are you up to these days? Any interesting projects?

Love that hutch- shame I live in a different country! Your table is divine too 🙂

I’m guessing it will be full steam ahead, once you get started! And forget about next week…you’ll be at the paint store this weekend. LOL!
I’m looking forward to your results! (FYI…Crate and Barrel has a chair in that yellow garden gate pattern.)

Thanks, I love the fabric on all the chairs, I just don’t have the $1000 to pay for it at Crate & Barrel! LOL!

Great choice in colours! I’d take either one of those sofas too.
