A few people having been asking me about the weird ORANGE button off to the right that looks like a signal or something. It is called RSS (short for Really Simple Syndication). Every time I post a blog this service will send it out to anyone who is subscribed. It can be delivered to a web browser, a dedicated reader, or to your email client. On my Mac I have it come in to Mail, and it sits in its own little place away from my email. This allows me to keep the new posts unread until I have time. This is an important thing if you follow a lot of other blogs.
There is a new feature on my site. There is a subscribe button to the right that you can fill in. This way you will be able to receive email or RSS notifications when I have a new post. That way you never have to check back on my site to see if there is a new post or not. Don’t worry, your email addresses are safe and there WILL NOT be anything mailed to you other than new posts!
If you have any questions about this feature, just let me know and I will try to answer them the best I can!
I so appreciate all of my new readers, existing readers, and without you this wouldn’t be as fun! So I thank you!
Have a wonderful day!

Okay, done. I didn’t realize the RSS could lead to your Google Reader. I don’t like getting new posts via email but couldn’t figure out how to add you to my reader but now it’s done:)

That’s great. It is so much easier to go RSS. You are in my RSS, oh and that reminds me I shall add you to my blog roll.
Thanks for letting me know it all works well.

Ok, I still don’t understand RRS! Explain? I usually get posts to me email, but it can fill up the inbox. Must look into Google reader

Every blog has a feed that it creates for its blog. In my case I syndicated (RSS = Really Simple Syndication) our feed with the most common service out there, Feedburner (by Google). If you subscribe to a feed, like say this one, you will have the choice of receiving it by email, or to an Reader. Many apps can be used for reading RSS feeds. I use Mail on the Mac to receive all my RSS feeds in there own section away from my mail. Carol (a few comments ago) is using Google Reader. You can use your web browsers as well.
My personal preference is to receive RSS updates anywhere other than mail. I get enough email a day and it can get tough to keep everything straight some times.
Here are a few links for further reading that may take you to a reader that you like. Google Reader, List of Readers, Windows Readers, Mac Readers.
Hope that helps.

Update: After doing some research to answer Barbara’s question I decided to try out a dedicated RSS reader. So I downloaded Shrook for Mac. I’ll try it out for a while and see how I like it. You have two main choices for readers: web based, or system based. Google Reader is an example of a web based reader. Shrook is system based. I chose system based so I can read articles when I am away from an internet connection.
