A Kitchen Reno: Years In the Making.

Our kitchen has come along slowly, but surely and I think most of the dust has settled from most of the work we did back in November. The Dust was a result of the country panelling that we removed and the walls were in dire need to be patched and resurfaced. I have still yet to find the “Before” picture of our kitchen from 9 years ago when we purchased this home. When I locate it, I will share with you the steps that has brought our kitchen to where it stands today.

This was the scene from about Mid November of last year. The Half height panelling was removed and I started the patch work. Even though we had the plastic up to keep out most of the dust, it never fails… the dust won and we found it pretty much everywhere else in our home.  It’s times like this picture where all serenity is lost, and you don’t know which way is up or down. Believe or not we really did know what were doing and the walls have since been resurfaced and look and feel really smooth.

The Small pony wall that you see over by the plastic was removed and replaced with spindles.  It greatly opens the space and allows for more light to filter in from the front entrance down the stairs.

The spindles that you see in the background we built almost 3 years ago.  When we bought this home almost 9 years ago there were full walls in all our staircases ( 3 flights!) and we have since removed them and have replaced them with the wood spindles.

{Making Progress...}

Removing this pony wall was nothing compared to the other 4 walls that Darryl and I removed years ago.  Sorry,  I don’t believe I have taken a photo since it’s been complete,  but you will see it as a part of the final reveal of this whole room.

Till then you will have to wait to see the whole design plan, but do come back  as I’m revealing a bit of a mood board of the whole design in the next week.

Have a great day!

Jodi

    Love how much more light is in your space without that partial wall. Crazy how such a little change can make all the different.
