For the last few weeks I have been posting a lot to sell on Craigslist. With always wanting to down size items that we no longer need and this need for simplicity in our lives it seems to be sometimes the best way to get rid of stuff and still get some or sometimes even more for what you paid for it!
Carol at The Design Pages wrote a very humorous post today, in it stated her guidelines to being successful on Craigslist and she was really bang on about everything! Entertaining post Carol. Things like this..
Like she said in her post… What exactly is this person really trying to sell? If you going to sell stuff, be clear in the photo what you are actually trying to sell. Enough said.
We have quite a few items for sale right now that I would really like to get the most out of them. Here’s the short list so far.
1. Antique Finish Hutch. ( Sells new for over $300 dollars at Ikea. Asking $150 firm)
This piece is sturdy and really functional. We added the extra panelling on the back so this piece is really strong. We also added the frosted glass in the front.
I did a post on this Letsvik Ikea bookcase that we sold on Craigslist after 2 days. Yipee! This post has gotten a lot of hype in blog land and to be honest not totally sure why, but hey I love to talk to so many of you and provide a simple idea!
Some other items that we are selling..
Antique Rocking Chair – asking $100. OBO.
This is a beautiful chair, I am sad to see it go but I just don’t have use for it any more.
We also planned on doing an extensive reno in our master bathroom that we no longer are going to take on. I’ll share the plans on that another time but the quick story is that we really don’t think we need that much space for our bathroom or such an elaborate space.
The tub we are selling is just like this picture I got off Home Depot’s site, except for our’s doesn’t include the taps.
This free-standing tub is practically brand new – asking $400. Steal of a deal.
SOLD!
I purposely stated in my post that ” This tub does not include taps” So interested buyer last night emailed me to make sure that it came with the taps. Are you kidding? I don’t even have any taps on our tub! Craigslist readers can be funny that way.
Hmmmm.. what else is in our tinkle trunk of Craigslist finds? Let’s see here….
Oh yes how could I forget this club chair. I currently have 2 of these. I am selling this one for sure as it has some holes in the left arm and the middle of it. A certain little guy poked it with a cake decorating tool last year and it looks like someone took a gun to it. I am in the midst of lightening up our space and these dark club chairs really dont’ work in our space any more.
Club Chair – Asking $80.
I will possibly sell the two as a pair in the future when I can source out the chairs that I will be bringing into the space.
I have had some successes lately on Craigslist. Now with an older niece and Nephew walking and talking now, I no longer needed these…
and these…
These 2 baby items sold on craigslist in 2 days. All I can say is Yahoooooooooooooooo!!! Can you feel the excitement as I say goodbye to all my baby items. I have just a few left and that’s it!
So that’s the adventures I have had on Craigslist and what I am selling. Let me know if you are interested in any of them. I could work out some deals if you are a reader of my site!
Happy Selling and Buying on Craigslist!

Thanks for the shout out Jodi!! I am thinking maybe fall is a great time to sell things on CL. The 2 beds we posted are both sold in just 2 days. I’ve had items in the past sit for weeks. My latest lesson is to do just what you did and say “firm”. There’s too much negotiating for my liking.
