October is in full swing and Thanksgiving is behind all of us already! Can you believe it? I didn’t want October to move too fast forward before I got share our weekend at IDS and our Blend West Cocktail party at the Loden Hotel.
While the kids had a great night with cousins (thanks to Darryl’s Sister and Husband for looking after our little rascals) Darryl and I headed into Vancouver to take in the IDS show. We had the chance to take in Mark Challen’s talk at 11:30 on “What makes a room memorable?” . What a great show and I went home from that show with so many thoughts in my head.
Now to the Fun part. Blend West 2011.
This was a fabulous night, one that most of us will remember for a lifetime. Darryl and I have been so lucky to have joined this group of Design Freaks, and when I say freaks, I mean just that! We are all passionate about what we all do and it really shows. I thank Barbara from Hodge Podge for inviting me to out last year for a luncheon. A big thank you to all of you that we have gotten to know and I really want to say how much Darryl and I appreciate all of you for each of your different and unique qualities.
Now on to the party…
It was a fabulous night to mingle, drink wine, eat great food. Not to mention the fabulous swag bags that we took home that had lots of goodies in it from Ikea, Kerrisdale design, and Para paints. I love free paint!
There were many different draw prizes generously donated and the big prize up for grabs was fortunately won my own Darryl! We both could not believe it and this past weekend it was one of the things that I was grateful for.
Of course we both had the chance to meet and talk to Susannze Dimma {Editor and Chief of House and Home magazine.} and Mark Challen {VP of Communications}. Mark and Suzanne were both so nice to talk to and I really was able to share my take on design and how it fits into the core values of my business.
I also got to meet and interview the beautiful Kelly Deck of Kelly Deck Design. My interview with her will be coming soon, so look for it. She had so much to say to me and I was very grateful for the opportunity.

Ikea generously covered every expense for us and for that we give a big shout of to them and say thanks! I didn’t however win a faucet, but I didn’t complain as the $1000.00 gift card was such a blessing to both Darryl and I.
